A Very Special Graduation Day at Blue Windmill Nursery

Gradulation day at Blue Windmill Nursery

There are some days in nursery life that feel particularly special, and our Leavers’ Graduation Assembly was certainly one of them.

This year, we gathered together to celebrate our preschool children as they reached the end of their time at Blue Windmill Nursery and prepared for the exciting next step of starting school.

For many of our leavers, this was the end of a journey that began several years ago. Some first came through our doors as babies, and we have had the enormous privilege of watching them grow from tiny babies and toddlers into the confident, curious and individual little people they are today.

That is what made our graduation assembly about much more than simply marking their last few weeks at nursery.

It was a chance to celebrate how far they have come.

We have watched friendships form, personalities emerge and confidence grow. We have seen children master things that once seemed difficult, discover the things they love, learn how to look after one another and gradually become ready for a much bigger world beyond nursery.

During the assembly, each of our preschool leavers was recognised and celebrated, before receiving a special bag to take home as a reminder of their time with us.

There was plenty of excitement, but inevitably a little emotion too. Saying goodbye is never easy when children and families have been part of nursery life for such a long time.

One of the greatest privileges of working in early years is knowing that we have been able to share such an important part of a child’s life. The years before school contain an extraordinary amount of change, learning and development, and we are incredibly proud to have played our small part in that journey.

Of course, graduation isn’t really an ending.

Our children are now heading off to new classrooms, new teachers, new friendships and all sorts of experiences that they cannot yet imagine. We know they will take with them the confidence, independence, curiosity and love of learning that they have developed during their early years.

To every one of our 2026 Blue Windmill leavers: we are so proud of you.

Thank you to our families for trusting us with your children and allowing us to be part of these precious early years. Whether your child’s Blue Windmill journey began in our baby room or more recently, it has been a privilege to watch them grow.

We hope our children will remember Blue Windmill with happiness, just as we will remember them.

Now it is time for their next adventure – and we cannot wait to see where it takes them.
