The summer seems to be passing very quickly.  From the beginning of August we will welcome all of our children into the setting.  There have been lots of changes in the way we do things at Nursery as our response to the Covid-19 outbreak.  We have done an extensive Covid-19 risk assessment and followed the guidance released for childcare settings.  We continue to aim to minimise risk of infection and to keep staff, children and families safe.

We have some vacancies available for September start – please contact the Nursery office on 01788 571393 or email: or use our contact us form from this website.

From Monday 15th June 2020 Blue Windmill will be open to a limited number of children.  In response to the continuing situation with Covid-19, we have introduced significant changes to our environment and our practice in order to reduce the risk of transmission of infection.  These changes have been informed by government and council guidelines.  The numbers of children that are able to attend will be reviewed regularly and gradually increased in line with developments announced by government.

We are currently accepting bookings for September 2020.

As part of the safety measures, we are currently restricting visitors to Nursery – please contact the Nursery office by telephone: 01788 571393 or by email: if you would like to arrange an appointment to visit us.

Thank you for your continued patience during our shutdown.

The current situation at Blue Windmill is changing:

From today, 1st June 2020, the Nursery is open to a minimum number of staff in order to plan and prepare the nursery environment before we accept children.  We are currently anticipating that Nursery will open to a small number of children week commencing Monday 15th June 2020.

If you have any questions regarding your child returning please contact the Nursery office by telephone: 01788 571393 or  by email:

At this stage we request that you do not visit the Nursery without a pre-booked appointment.

Thank you for your continued patience in these strange circumstances.

As you are aware the Government has stated that schools and nurseries can begin phased re-opening after the 1st June.  Blue Windmill are currently considering the options we have and the ways in which we can work safely to reduce the risk of spreading infection.  It will not possible for the Nursery to open on 1st June, to children however we will be working towards re-opening to small numbers of children soon after that date.

Over the next couple of weeks we will contact our customers with further information.  If you have any specific queries please contact and we will endeavour to get back to you as quickly as possible.

Thank you again – we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We are currently still closed due to the Covid-19 risk.

As you may be aware the Government has suggested that phased returns to schools and nurseries may begin after 1st June.  We are currently considering the implications that this may have for our Nursery and discussions are currently taking place as to whether Blue Windmill feel that it will be safe to open again.  If you are returning to work as ‘Lockdown’ begins to ease, and you are interested in your childcare place resuming – it would be helpful if you would email the Nursery office –  ‘’ to express such interest.

It is still a difficult time and we really appreciate your patience during our closure.  The health & safety of our staff, children and their families remains of paramount importance to us.

We miss you all, keep safe and hopefully we may see you soon.

Thank you.

Blue Windmill Staff Team

Thank you to you all for your patience and understanding during this very difficult and surreal time. We hope you are all keeping safe and well, and following our governments guidelines to stay at home (unless absolutely necessary), and to maintain social distancing.

We remain closed at the present time, to prevent the risk of Covid-19 infection, and to protect our staff, you- our families, and children. Thank you to those families who responded to our request to know who are critical workers, and needing childcare.
The advice we have been given at the present time is to signpost you to the Family Information Service where you will be able to access pooled provision in the area. (

During the next week, we will be contacting all families whose children will be accessing Summer Term funding. (From April 20th), This will include our current Pre School intake, new families with children enrolling, and those children moving into Pre School from our Being Two room.
Please ensure that you either email with a contact number and/or email address.

If we do not hear from you, we may be unable to process a funding claim for your child.

Blue Windmill Nursery is temporarily closed following the announcement by the Education Secretary, to try and limit the transmission of the virus.

The Government guidance states that wherever possible:

“Every child who can be safely cared for at home should be, to limit the chance of the virus spreading.”

We will regularly monitor the guidelines issued by the Government as the situation continues and will review our closure in light of these.

If you are considered to be a ‘Keyworker’ and need childcare please contact:
